Buhler news

During the regular July BOE meeting, the public survey results were shared with the Board.  DCS, an independent company, conducted the survey and shared the results along with summary data with the Board.

On July 18, the Board had a work session to review data and set a vision using the data, district needs, capital outlay uses and possible bond projects.  The data reviewed included:

1.  Survey Data

2.  Public Meetings and Comments

3.  Personal Knowledge and Opinions

Some specific cross tabulation data considered were projects that were highly supported/supported by respondents who were undecided regarding support of a no mill levy increase bond.  Those projects included playgrounds, security, Union Valley cafeteria and library, parking, and Ad Astra.  Cross tabulation data then considered were projects that were highly supported/supported by respondents that were supportive of a no mill levy increase bond along with the undecided group.  The projects that stood out to the Board were playgrounds, security, Union Valley cafeteria and library, parking, administrative office remodeling, professional development space, and Ad Astra.

Additional information from community meetings that were common from the four meetings included improvements to HVAC specifically at Buhler Grade School, parking, maintenance, and confusion surrounding Ad Astra Academies, Union Valley library being in the basement, and daycares.  Some thoughts shared by administration and board members included support for HVAC at BGS in a bond issue as it is a school wide issue and not just specific units.  Other units are in a plan of rotation of replacement over the phases using capital outlay. The community may not be aware of water restriction in Buhler which could affect support for Wheatland Park turf on the softball field.  If Union Valley was to have the library moved upstairs, it may help with the elevator repair expenses there.  The elevator is possibly over 50 years old.
