Buhler USD 313, is committed to partnering with parents to provide early education opportunities to all of our students. The academic success of children in later years depends heavily upon their kindergarten readiness. The first few years of education and preparedness are the most crucial to establishing a solid foundation from which can adapt to school systems and learn successfully. During this period, children develop primary skills that form the foundations reading, counting, and social interaction.

Head Start and Early Head Start are comprehensive child development programs which serve children from birth to age 5, pregnant women, and their families. Reno County Head Start has two Pre-K classrooms in USD 313 located at Plum Creek Elementary and Union Valley Elementary. Classroom sessions are 9:30 to 1:30, Monday through Thursday. They are child-focused classrooms with the overall goal of increasing the school readiness of our young children in low-income families. The children eat lunch and snack at school each day and busing is provided to children within the 313 area. These services provided are at no cost to the families.
To participate, families must live in Reno County, meet federal income guidelines and be aged 3 or 4 on or before August 31. To find out if you qualify or for more information please contact Reno County Head Start at 620-615-5750.
